Don Kirman is the President and owner of K Optical. He began his optical career in 1986 when the lab was located in the basement of his father’s optometric practice. Since then he has moved the business into a new expanded facility. The new facility allowed us to expand our product and service portfolio. K Optical has been independently verified by the industry’s leading testing facility, Colts Laboratory, in which we have been consistently awarded their Gold Seal.
In recent years, we have heavily invested in fully automated digital processing technology. This includes complete precision digital processing in our surfacing department. Our custom optioned Satisloh® generators can produce a wide range of specialty lenses that utilize precision based process control to cut within a hundredth of a diopter of accuracy. We can process complex optical surfaces, including specialty digital RX's to custom backside lenticularization, with our Satisloh® generators and Satisloh® digital soft tool polishers. The lenses this machinery produces for your practice are world class.
Our MEI 641Auto edger compliments our state-of-the-art surfacing department with industry leading technology. This is a world class machine with many cutting heads to ensure the highest quality cosmetics of even the most challenging prescriptions. K Optical utilizes the MEI CAD program for creating step backs, inclined bevels, custom shapes, high wraps, and Chemistrie Clips. This level of technology brings visible product improvements and offerings to your practice.
