As you may be aware, the Pennsylvania Legislature passed PA Act 1013 (Session of 2017) (Insurance Company Law of 1921 – Emergency Services and Quality Eye Care for Insured Pennsylvanians, Act of Oct. 24, 2018). In compliance with the new law, if the NVA member’s plan name now includes “Plus” at the time service you will have the option to use K Optical, Inc. as a Non-Participating laboratory or the existing Participating optical laboratory for materials. In compliance with the new law, Davis and EyeMed Vision Plans are also able to be processed at K Optical.

You can send new orders, frames for orders in progress, or for drop shipping frames directly from some of the major frame manufacturers to K-Optical. We will send completed work back to you, which will arrive in the morning.______________________________________________________________________________

Our MEI edger gives us the capability to offer an expanded prescription range for lenses going into Sport/Wrap frames with unique notching, step-backs, and more.
Common frames that we work with include: Oakley, Wiley-X, Maui Jim, Liberty Sport, Costa, BolleThe MEI also utilizes a CAD software program called Technocam. Technocam allows us to control every cut that goes into edging a lens to produce custom lens shapes and styles.

Lenticularization is a process developed to minimize the thickness and weight of lenses.
The user defines an optimal region around the fitting cross call the optical area. Outside this region, the Lenticularization reduces the thickness with a gradual change in curvature, resulting in a thinner lens at the edge for minus lenses and thinner in the center for plus lenses.
The optical area is a zone where the optical quality is optimum. A lenticular effect saves this area for optical vision and modifies the curvature of the lens outside the saved zone to reduce thickness. The relationship between the diameter selected and obtained result is simple: The smaller the optical area is, the more the thickness can be improved.
Optical Area Default Diameters: 35, 40, 45, and 50 mm
The Optical Area can also be elliptical or adjusted to match the shape of the frame. (see below)
K Optical can use a frame tracing to create a custom lenticular shape that matches your patient’s frame. We automatically calculate the design with a 5mm halo, but custom halo values are available.
